Embark on an epic journey to become the ultimate ruler of the vibrant island of Catan! In this thrilling board game, players engage in friendly competition to construct settlements, cities, and roads while exploring a captivating landscape rich in resources.

Every turn kicks off with the roll of two six-sided dice, determining which resources will spring forth from the land. Players gather essential resource cards representing sheep, wheat, wood, brick, and ore to build their thriving communities. The diverse terrains each yield unique materials: Hills produce brick, Forests provide wood, Mountains yield ore, Fields generate wheat, and Pastures are teeming with sheep. Beware the desert, a barren wasteland devoid of any resources!

The adventure begins with the strategic placement of large hexagonal tiles, each representing valuable resources, arranged in a honeycomb layout. These tiles are bordered by water tiles that may offer trading ports. Number disks, corresponding to every possible die roll, are placed atop the resource tiles to orchestrate the dynamics of production.

As players set forth, each begins with two settlements and two roads, strategically placed at the intersections and borders of resource tiles. By collecting resource cards from the tiles adjacent to their settlements, players begin their quest for domination. To introduce essential strategic elements from the get-go, a robber pawn starts out on the desert tile.

Each turn unfolds with the potential for players to utilize a development card, roll the dice, and gather resource cards corresponding to the rolled number—except when a 7 is cast! In such cases, the active player must move the robber, sabotaging resource production on a new hex and stealing cards from nearby players.

The opportunity for trading cards at ports or negotiating deals with fellow players adds an exhilarating layer of interaction to the game. Earn points by building settlements and cities, securing the longest road, and assembling the largest army through development cards. Players can also gain victory points from special development cards.

The game reaches its exciting climax when one player reaches 10 points, triumphantly declaring their victory!

Catan is celebrated worldwide, having won numerous awards and captivating both veteran and new players alike. Originally released as Die Siedler von Catan by KOSMOS, it has evolved through multiple editions and was rebranded in 2015 simply as Catan, highlighting its esteemed place in the expansive Catan series.
