This expansion introduces two major elements that elevate your gaming experience:

Knights and Defense: Assemble knights to protect your land! These brave warriors will help you secure key intersections and fend off periodic barbarian attacks. If you successfully defend the island, the player(s) with the most knights are rewarded handsomely. But beware—if the island falls to the invaders, players with the fewest knights will face consequences, watching their cities downgrade to mere settlements!

City Improvements: Enhance your cities with new improvements that grant powerful benefits. As you build these upgrades, you’ll access a wider range of tactics and strategies, leading to deeper gameplay and new pathways to victory.

This expansion expands the Catan universe by introducing:

  • New Commodities: Three exciting new resources—paper, cloth, and coins—join the game! Acquired from Forest, Meadow, and Mountain spaces, respectively, these commodities allow for the construction of city improvements that contribute to your victory points.
  • Revamped Development Cards: Ditch the old development card deck and draw from three new decks corresponding to each commodity. Every roll of the dice can present an opportunity to expand your strategy. The more improvements you build, the greater your chances of drawing powerful new cards!
