In Dixit, the excitement begins when one player steps into the shoes of the Storyteller. This player selects a card from their hand and brings it to life through storytelling, song, or any imaginative expression they choose. The magic continues as each other player secretly picks a card from their own hand, hoping to match the Storyteller's essence.

After the cards are shuffled and revealed, the suspense builds as players vote on which card they believe belongs to the Storyteller. Points are awarded based on the votes received—if everyone or no one guesses correctly, the Storyteller gains no points. However, if the Storyteller receives a mix of votes, they score based on approval. Players who successfully guess the Storyteller's card or have their card voted on also claim points.
