Tobago: Volcano elevates the thrill of treasure hunting to exhilarating new heights! This exciting expansion combines seamlessly with the base game of Tobago for an unforgettable adventure. Prepare for a dramatic twist as a towering volcano dominates the island, taking up seven hexes on the board and sending rivers of lava flowing into your quest for hidden riches. While treasures once rested beneath palm trees, nearby huts, and within lush forests, the landscape has now dramatically changed! In this expansion, each player starts by placing a triangular tile composed of three hexes along the island's perimeter. One hex will become engulfed in lava, while your ATV begins on one of the remaining hexes. As the game progresses, you’ll have the chance to unleash chaos with “illegal” cards. For example, you can drop a 'not in the mountains' card just after 'in the mountains' has been played for the same treasure. This clever move opens up access to one of the four volcanic clue cards, allowing you to cover the previous card with new hints like 'next to/not next to the volcano' or 'next to/not next to lava'. Once the treasure is secured, the volcanic card returns to the side of the play area, ready for future rounds. With every amulet collected, a hex of lava is added to the board—positioned next to the volcano or expanding existing lava flows. This dynamic shift means treasures can be relocated in unexpected ways. Who could have guessed that the largest forest might vanish under a river of molten rock? Navigating this treacherous terrain requires skill. Your ATV can traverse lava but cannot stop on it. To maneuver effectively, you'll need to spend an amulet or, if you’ve run out, discard your largest treasure card. Stay vigilant and strategize wisely—don’t let the encroaching lava block your paths!
