Three Sisters

Three Sisters invites you into the vibrant world of backyard farming, where strategy meets the charm of nature's bounty. Named after an ancient indigenous agricultural practice, this roll-and-write game embodies the harmonious relationship between three crops — pumpkins, corn, and beans. In this clever planting system, corn provides structure for the climbing beans, beans enrich the soil with nitrogen, and squash offers protective ground cover, keeping weeds and pests at bay.

In Three Sisters, each player manages their own customizable player sheet, which features multiple gameplay areas. Explore your garden, divided into six unique zones, each dedicated to the three crop types. You’ll also nurture an apiary, manage compost, grow perennials, cultivate fruit, and store tools in your handy shed, each equipped with special abilities!

As you acquire crops, fruits, flowers, and hive products, you’ll mark tracks representing these resources. Many tracks interconnect, unleashing delightful bonuses that propel your farming strategy forward. Harvesting circles will showcase your progress, generating goods that unlock exciting bonus actions. Every advancement on these tracks earns you valuable points, paving the way to victory.

The game unfolds over eight thrilling rounds. Each round, players will roll dice based on the number of participants, organize them by number, and place them on the action wheel, with the farmer's position changing each time. Once the dice are placed, players draft one die and use it strategically, followed by using the lowest-valued die left on the action wheel. With each die, you can carry out two essential actions in any order:

• Plant or water in the corresponding numbered zone.
• Execute the action from the space you selected your die.

When planting, mark the bottom space of two empty crop tracks, keeping in mind that beans cannot be planted until their supportive corn is tall enough. When watering, mark one spot on all crop tracks that already contain at least one mark. The action wheel offers a diverse array of further possibilities:

• Plant or water again in the same zone.
• Gather one compost to adjust die values and acquire four goods for bonuses.
• Advance on the hive track for points, goods, or bonus actions.
• Mark one of the four fruit tracks, which yield varying points, goods, and growth opportunities.
• Visit the farmer’s market for points and bonuses based on your collected goods.
• Complete tool tracks in your shed for powers and scoring advantages.

Perennials add further depth to your strategy, marked through actions in other sections, offering various bonuses as they grow.

At the end of each round, enjoy a bonus action: whether it’s a refreshing rain that waters your garden, a trip to the shed for tools, or a visit to the farmer’s market for more rewards. After eight rounds, tally your points from harvested crops, perennials, apiaries, fruits, and completed shed items. The player with the highest score emerges as the ultimate farming champion!

Three Sisters also includes a solo mode, challenging you to beat your best score against a simulated opponent that drafts dice and blocks sections of your sheet. Dive into this engaging farming adventure where strategy and growth go hand in hand!
