Tawantinsuyu: The Inca Empire invites you to plunge into the vibrant world of the Inca civilization, where cunning strategy and skillful diplomacy are your keys to power. Will you rise to become the rightful successor of Sapa Inca Pachacuti?
Your quest focuses on honoring Inti, the revered Sun God, while expanding the Inca Empire across four remarkable realms: Chinchaysuyu, Antisuyu, Qullasuyu, and Kuntisuyu. Gather loyal subjects from the villages below and leverage their unique abilities to position them strategically on the expansive game board.
Ascend the sacred steps of the Coricancha, the Golden Temple, where you will reap divine rewards for your devotion. Construct vital structures that not only sustain your people but also grant you exclusive advantages over your competitors. Assemble a formidable army to conquer neighboring villages and prove your mettle as a leader of this great empire.
The game unfolds in the historically rich setting of the old Inca capital, Cusco, featuring a captivating terraced hill divided into five sections, anchored by the magnificent Coricancha. Each player embodies a High Priest within the temple, managing various worker placement areas below.
On your turn, choose to either place a worker outside the Coricancha or execute two of the following actions: Recruit one worker, take two god cards, draw two army cards (keeping one), or move your High Priest one or two steps clockwise within the Coricancha. When placing a worker, you'll need to either discard a matching god card or pay one gold. Once positioned, your workers remain on the board, allowing for meticulous planning.
Each worker placement spot connects to three action spaces, ensuring you must perform at least one action with your newly placed worker. Even better, you can gain extra actions through adjacent workers of the same type!
Each of the five worker types presents distinct tactical advantages:
God cards are powerful assets, granting mighty abilities, but they do require a matching discarded card or gold for their placement. To claim military victories, army cards are essential, as players compete for dominance over regions, seizing valuable rewards.
The position of your High Priest within the Coricancha greatly influences strategy, affecting resource costs and access to critical actions such as Production, Worship, Offering, Conquer, and Rejuvenation. Scoring victory points is vital; accumulate points by constructing stairs, crafting statues, advancing in the temple, and controlling regions.
The game concludes when the worker pool is exhausted, symbolizing the vast expansion of the Inca Empire. In your final scoring, earn bonus points for reaching the top of the temple, for your woven tapestries, and for all the buildings and resources acquired throughout your journey.
Your adventure in Tawantinsuyu: The Inca Empire is a true test of strategy and leadership. Will you guide the Inca to everlasting glory?
