Prepare for an exhilarating duel in SUMO, where strategy and card play collide as you attempt to outmaneuver your opponent and push them from the ring!

Setting up the game is simple: place the sumo wrestlers card in the center of the sumo ring, which features just three positions: left, center, and right. One player takes their position on the left, while the other sits on the right.

Each player is dealt a hand of eight cards from a unique deck of 20, featuring numbers 1-5 in four suits. The excitement begins as players reveal their cards simultaneously during each trick. The player with the higher card goes first in the next round. If there’s a tie, the revelation continues until one player wins, or all eight cards are played—at which point, it’s time to shuffle and re-deal!

The gameplay is straightforward: the first player leads with a card, and the second player must follow suit if possible. If the second player cannot match the suit, the first player automatically wins that round. Regardless of the outcome, the winner pushes the sumo wrestlers card away from them, setting the stage for the next trick.

A thrilling victory awaits if you can push the sumo wrestlers out of the ring! If that doesn’t happen, fear not—the winner of the final trick still claims victory. You can also strive for earlier wins with one of three powerful 'sumo moves':

• Abise-taoshi: Crush your opponent with your weight by playing a 4 in the same color after leading with a 1.
• Hikiotoshi: Use your opponent's own momentum against them by playing a 1 in the same color after they lead with a 5.
• Wucchari: Knock your opponent out of the ring by playing an off-color 2 when the sumo wrestlers card is precariously close to the edge of the ring.
