Struggle of Empires recreates the wars fought between these rival nations as each strives to become the dominant force in Europe and the wider world. Each player leads one of the major powers of the period, building armies and fleets, forging alliances, establishing colonies, strengthening the economy and ultimately waging war to expand the empire.

Fans of sweeping civilization games like Civilization and Age of Renaissance will feel right at home. This is a grand empire-building game with fighting in both Europe and the colonies, yet its rules stay refreshingly simple.

Binding Alliances: Before each war, the players split into two alliances, and once allied, partners cannot fight each other. There is none of the backstabbing found in Diplomacy: an ally stays at your side until the war ends. The real challenge lies in choosing your friends and foes, and you may find yourself joining forces with your natural enemy while marching against a rival who never wanted the fight.

Shape Your Empire: A wide array of improvement tiles lets each nation grow in its own direction, and alliances with minor powers add another layer of strategy to your expansion.
