Step into the chilling world of 1692 Salem and get ready for a thrilling battle of accusations and defenses in Salem. Can you uncover the witches hiding among your fellow townsfolk before conspiracy tears your community apart?

In a time when every whisper could lead to a hanging, Salem is a place filled with tension, intrigue, and the dangers of fanaticism. This game immerses players in the historical drama that has fascinated people for over 300 years.

Designed to resemble a worn leather book, Salem is elegantly packaged in a faux book box that closes magnetically. It’s an eye-catching piece that can blend seamlessly into your bookshelf, masquerading as a cherished antique.

Players will embody some of Salem’s most notable villagers, including the servant girl Mary Warren, pastor Samuel Parris, farmer John Proctor, the enigmatic storyteller Tituba, and the beggar Sarah Good, among others. Each character comes to life with a detailed bio in the instruction manual, adding an extra layer of depth to your gameplay.

As you take on the role of these unique characters, you will receive 3-5 Tryal cards, depending on how many players are engaged. These cards will ultimately reveal if you are a "Witch" or "Not a Witch".

Gather accusation cards as you navigate the suspenseful atmosphere, deciding whether to accuse or defend others. Trust is fragile; you can't play a card on yourself! When you think someone is a witch, unleash your red accusation cards. If enough accusations mount against one player, the final accuser gets to reveal one of that player's Tryal cards. If all the "Witch" Tryal cards are discovered, the villagers emerge victorious!

Strategy deepens with the introduction of green and blue cards like "Alibi", "Stocks", "Matchmaker", "Asylum", and "Scapegoat". These can either assist your allies or sabotage your enemies, adding layers of cunning gameplay.

As the game unfolds, players will encounter black cards that have instant effects. The "Night" card demands that all players shut their eyes while the Witches decide who to eliminate, and the Constable may choose someone to save. The chilling "Conspiracy" card forces everyone to take a face-down Tryal card from the player to their left. Time is of the essence: if witches aren’t swiftly handled, everyone may find themselves swayed towards darkness.

Before long, accusations will echo through the air, with cries of "She's a WITCH!" reverberating through your gatherings. Will you emerge as the hero who cleanses your town of evil, or will you find yourself wrongfully accused and face the gallows? Perhaps you are the cunning witch, expertly evading capture while sowing discord among your fellow townsfolk.

Join the struggle for survival in Salem, the first volume in the Dark Cities Series by Facade Games. A game of accusation, deception, and strategy awaits!
