Railways of the World (2009) revitalizes the classic board game from Eagle Games, previously known as Railroad Tycoon, first released in 2005. This new edition enhances the original gameplay with exciting improvements that will captivate both seasoned players and newcomers alike.

Step back into the bustling world of the Age of Steam! Kick off your journey with the iconic John Bull, the very first locomotive to traverse North America, and set your ambitions high with a Tycoon "mission" card. As you lay down tracks and build your railroad network, aim to connect major cities like New York and Chicago, all while raking in profits and upgrading to faster, more powerful locomotives. Will you conquer the continent and construct the legendary Transcontinental Railway?

This base game not only provides a rich gaming experience but also includes essential components such as engine placards, railroad tiles, train tokens, and bonds. Players will delve into a beautifully illustrated gameboard featuring the eastern half of the United States and a mounted map of Mexico. The game is designed to serve as the foundation of the entire Railways of the World series, with multiple expansions available that introduce a variety of different maps to explore.

Originally inspired by a collaboration between designer Martin Wallace and Glenn Drover, Railroad Tycoon simplified the mechanics of Age of Steam while enhancing its appeal with stunning components. This made it accessible to a broader audience, providing engaging gameplay without overwhelming new players.

A revised reprint was released in late 2010, featuring further component improvements, including the addition of Railroad Operation cards for the Mexico map. Get ready for an immersive experience that captures the essence of train travel and economic strategy!

Please note: The gameboard is impressively large, measuring approximately 36x45 inches (91x114 cm), so it’s recommended to have a spacious table or consider playing on the floor.

If you enjoyed Steam, you'll love the exhilarating adventures that await in Railways of the World.
