Step into the captivating world of Pylos, where strategy and skill converge in a race to build a majestic pyramid! Your mission? Be the first to place the final ball atop this architectural wonder.

Each player begins the game with fifteen balls in either light or dark shades, ready for a battle of wits and cunning. Players take turns placing their balls on a game board featuring a 4x4 grid of sixteen indentations. Once four balls align in a square formation, the fun escalates as a player can then place a ball on top, creating a second level of strategy. Continue stacking to the third level, and once that space is filled with just four balls, victory is within reach—one final ball can be placed on the fourth level, signaling triumph!

But the game isn't as straightforward as it seems. Forming squares of your color is key! When you achieve this, you can remove one or two of your non-supporting balls from anywhere on the board and add them to your reserve, giving you more chances to dominate the game. If you happen to form a square that doesn’t belong entirely to you, you can utilize the power of “stacking.” This allows you to lock some pieces in place while making a strategic move without placing a new piece from your reserve.

Pylos also offers tailored variants to suit every player! For children, a simplified rule set eliminates the square bonus for easy learning. Meanwhile, seasoned strategists can enhance their experience with a variant that lets a player return 1-2 balls to their reserve whenever they create a line of their color, adding another layer of depth to this ensnaring game.
