The first settlers touched down in 2037, paving the way for an ambitious quest: to build a thriving, self-sustaining colony on Mars.

As the chief astronaut for your pioneering enterprise, you are tasked with the monumental duty of fulfilling both D.O.M.E. mission goals and your company’s private agenda. Initially reliant on supplies from Earth, you’ll shuttle frequently between the Mars Space Station and the planet’s surface. But as you lay the groundwork for your colony, you’ll cultivate vital resources and construct key infrastructures like mines, power generators, water extractors, greenhouses, oxygen factories, and shelters. Your ultimate aim? To establish a self-sufficient colony that stands proudly without terrestrial aid. Are you ready to tackle humankind’s greatest challenge?

In On Mars, gameplay unfolds over several rounds, divided into two captivating phases: the Colonization Phase and the Shuttle Phase.

During the Colonization Phase, players take turns executing a series of strategic actions based on their current location. If you’re in orbit, you can sift through blueprints, invest in advanced technologies, and gather supplies from the Warehouse. On the Martian surface, the real excitement begins! Here, you will construct buildings using your bots, enhance them with blueprints, recruit scientists, secure new contracts, receive incoming ships, and delve into exploratory missions with your rover.

The game’s mechanics highlight the interdependence of different structures. For instance, constructing shelters for Colonists necessitates oxygen, which is produced through plants that require water. Extracting water from ice demands power, generated through mining minerals that in turn require the labor of Colonists. Upgrading your colony's resource efficiency is crucial to survival in Mars' harsh environment.

As the colony flourishes, so does the challenge of providing adequate shelters for your growing population of Colonists. Complete missions throughout the game to drive your success! Once three missions are accomplished, the thrilling conclusion awaits. To claim victory, you must contribute significantly to the development of the first colony on Mars, earning Opportunity Points (OP) along the way. The player with the highest OP at the end emerges as the champion of this extraordinary venture!
