Step into the enchanting world of Mascarade, where mystery and deception reign supreme! In this exhilarating game, you'll inhabit the identity of a character, but beware—your true self might just be a bluff. Prepare for a whirlwind of mischief, as your friends attempt to call you out on your claims!

At the start, each player is dealt a face-down role card, and in games with 4 to 5 players, several additional cards are placed in the center of the table. On your turn, you have three exciting actions to choose from:

1. Announce Your Character: Boldly declare your character's power and take action! You don’t need to hold the character card to make your claim. However, if another player challenges you and reveals their card, they take the action instead, and you’ll face the tribunal, losing one precious coin.

2. Swap Cards: Engage in strategic swapping by taking your card and another player's card, hiding them beneath the table. Mix them up and return one card while keeping one for yourself. While you might have a sneaking suspicion about your new identity, your opponent could be left guessing!

3. Secretly Peek: In the midst of all the intrigue, take a moment to confirm who you are by glancing at your character card–but don’t let anyone else catch you!

The game unfolds until one player accumulates 13 coins to claim victory or until another player runs out of coins, in which case the coin leader takes the glory! With a total of 17 vibrant role cards, which include a blend of characters from both the original game and the 2014 expansion, gameplay is fresh and thrilling every time.

Each game of Mascarade is unique, featuring different combinations of characters, creating limitless opportunities for strategy and deception. For newcomers, the rules recommend starting with specific characters, but seasoned players can quickly dive into a richer, more diverse experience.
