Hive is a two-player strategy game that needs no board at all. Lay it out on a kitchen table, a café counter or any other flat surface, and the battle begins the moment the first piece goes down.

Each side commands a set of pieces shaped like different creatures, and every creature has its own way of moving. As players place and shift their pieces, the hive grows into an ever-changing pattern of tiles, and every move can open a new threat or close off an old one.

The Pieces Are the Board: There is no setup and no fixed playing area. The pieces themselves form the playing surface, so the hive takes a new shape in every game.

Every Creature Moves Differently: Because each creature follows its own movement rules, mastering Hive means learning how your pieces work together and how to stop your opponent's from doing the same.

Nothing Is Ever Lost: Pieces are never eliminated, and you don't have to play all of them. Every piece stays a factor until the end, and holding one back can be just as clever as placing it.

Surround the Queen: The goal is to completely surround your opponent's queen while keeping your own free. The first player to trap the rival queen wins, so every turn balances attack against defense.
