HATSUDEN is an electrifying two-player board game that immerses players in the dynamic world of renewable energy. With its concise rules and quick gameplay, each session is packed with excitement and unpredictable outcomes.
In this game, you will construct five distinct types of renewable energy plants: Solar, Geothermal, Wind, Hydro, and Biomass. Your mission? To power the city while outpacing your opponent. Strategically generate electricity while ensuring your city meets its energy demands. Don't forget the powerful technology cards that can shift the tides of the game as you embark on your journey to become a master “HATSUDEN” engineer.
Goal of the Game
In HATSUDEN, the objective is twofold: to maximize your generation of renewable energy and to maintain an optimal power supply for the city.
Game Overview
Select an open space on the game board and place a power plant card that matches the renewable energy type indicated at the top of the column. Each plant card you place grants you a corresponding power supply, indicated by the number on the card.
Power plants contribute electricity to the city located at the end of the row. The city requires a total supply of exactly 10, but it can accept 9 or 11 as well. If your total supply exceeds 12 after placing or upgrading a power plant, you must convert one of the other plants in that row into a pylon to keep the supply to 11 or fewer.
The game ends when a player completes all ten spaces. However, if the last player cannot fill all spaces, the remaining gaps will be filled with pylons.
Scoring Points
To determine your score, first calculate the generation for each type of renewable energy—Solar, Geothermal, Wind, Hydro, and Biomass. Add together the values in the two spaces of the column for each energy type, and compare totals between players. The player with the higher generation level wins the renewable energy card, earning 1 point. In case of a tie, no points are awarded.
Next, assess the total power supply to the city by adding the generation of the plants in the row. If your supply totals 10, you can claim the city card for 1 point. However, if your total falls to 8 or below, you will lose 1 point.
The player with the higher total score at the end of the game is the winner. In the event of a tie, the player who scored more city points (earning 1 point for a total of 10 or losing 1 point for 8 or less) is declared the victor. If still tied, the player who took the second turn wins!
Ready to power up your strategy and put your renewable energy expertise to the test? Dive into the world of HATSUDEN and see if you have what it takes to become the ultimate energy engineer!
