Your mission? To influence the election of the next Pope by championing a candidate whose traits align with your faction's public profile—considering their stance on the church, age, personality, and origin. But beware! As you support your candidate, you're also secretly pursuing an agenda that may contradict your declared goals.

Strategic influence lies at the heart of the game. This vital resource acts as both the currency for playing powerful cards and for swaying votes, doubling as your score points. Use it wisely! Each round allows you to gain more influence by aligning with candidates who attract broad support, but negotiation and cunning are essential to your success.

Forge strategic alliances, eliminate potential threats, and outmaneuver your rivals to achieve your faction's dominance. The art of deduction is crucial; revealing the hidden motives of others can dramatically shift the balance of power.

As each of the first four rounds concludes, the Conclave may choose to declare a "Fumata Blanca"—crowning a new Pope and initiating final scoring—or a "Fumata Negra," which means more rounds of intrigue lie ahead. If no Pope is elected after five rounds, the game concludes—whether or not a Pontiff has been crowned—and the final score is calculated.
