The objective of Gold West is clear: amass the most victory points through astute management of your burgeoning mining empire. Players will encounter five distinct resources: the highly coveted Copper, Silver, and Gold, which can be transformed into victory points in various ways. Meanwhile, Timber and Stone serve as vital building materials used to construct camps and settlements across the board, allowing you to gather more resources and shape the landscape to your advantage.

Each hexagon on the board is rich with resources, with most offering either two or three. Gold typically provides the highest point value, while Silver and Copper offer slightly less. To top it off, different terrain types award points to the player who exerts the most influence in those areas by the end of the game. Copper terrains stand out as the most lucrative, followed by Silver, Gold, and Forest terrains, each offering their own unique rewards.

As you gather new metals and materials, you'll organize them on your "supply track," a mancala-style system that allows for strategic resource management. The farther back on the track you place your resources, the more points you score for each, as this represents a more refined product. However, be mindful—the journey to bring those resources to the front can take time.
