Exciting new features set Dartmoor apart, including the innovative TERRAIN cards. Played horizontally, these cards serve as vital homes or feeding grounds for various species that thrive outside of traditional trees and shrubs. But be mindful of the moorland's unique challenges! Creatures like deer will avoid bogs and peat areas, seeking safe spots away from dwells or nearby rivulets to quench their thirst.

Strategy is key as you carefully choose where to place your species. Dartmoor also retains an exciting twist: each of the 180 cards in the deck has a unique back that can be flipped face down to create a bog, adding layers of depth to gameplay. Starting conditions are also asymmetrical thanks to the new drafting mechanism for caves, giving every game a fresh strategic flavor. Plus, the streamlined number of tree symbols has been adjusted from eight to six, making it easier to unlock bonuses!

Gameplay remains intuitive and engaging. Each player begins with six cards depicting trees, shrubs, terrain, or moor dwellers—each card divides beautifully into two halves, showcasing diverse plant and animal life. On your turn, choose to draw two cards (either face down from the deck or face up from the clearing) or play a card from your hand. Discard other cards to pay for your chosen action and bring your first card into play.
