Each Ancient One brings its own unique set of Mystery and Research cards, immersing you deeper into the horrifying lore surrounding each vile creature. As you navigate through the dangers of the Mystery cards, you'll uncover otherworldly gates, encounter menacing monsters, and stumble upon helpful clues that will shape your travel plans and confrontations. Adventure awaits you in the most unexpected places around the globe! In the Encounter Phase of each turn, players resolve challenges through combat or by weaving personal narratives from various Encounter cards. Engage in a thrilling showdown with a monster in Istanbul, navigate the treacherous underworld of a major city, embark on an expedition to the Pyramids, or delve into the enigmatic wilds to research a newfound clue. Explore dimensions beyond time and space as you venture through mysterious gates!

The cost of failure can be dire. If you encounter trouble, you may face physical or mental trauma. The outcomes could be as minor as injuries or as serious as acquiring a Condition card, representing various afflictions like Leg Injury or Amnesia. You might find yourself in over your head as you acquire assets, leading to a Debt condition. Or perhaps, you’ll bind yourself in a Dark Pact with forces more sinister than any ordinary debt collector! Remember, resolving these conditions quickly is vital, as many come with a "reckoning effect" that could seal your fate.

As the Ancient One draws closer, its sinister influence becomes more palpable. The game's Mythos Cards keep the tension high, introducing new threats and ushering in otherworldly gates and terrifying monsters.
