Set against rich historical backdrops—from the tumultuous Roman provinces and fierce Celtic tribes to the majestic realms of medieval Italy, the Inca Empire, the opulent Ottoman court, and pre-industrial England—each game provides a thrilling experience where the outcome is uncertain until the final moments.

Players assume the roles of powerful leaders: a Roman Consul, a Celtic chieftain, a medieval lord, an Inca general, an Ottoman noble, or the head of an English noble family. With three factions vying for dominance in each territory, represented by stunning metal coins, every decision can tip the balance of power. The board, intriguingly crafted from hexagonal tiles, ensures no two games are alike as territories are assigned to factions during setup, setting the stage for confrontation.

On their turn, players can select two actions from a diverse list: open a contest, strengthen a territory, move coins, gain power, or place new coins. Opening a contest is a suspenseful highlight: each player secretly bets coins, and the reveal determines which faction takes control of the territory. Victory not only secures a territory but also rewards the leading player with valuable loot and construction opportunities to enhance their newfound lands.

Buildings like villages, cities, bridges, and capitals increase territory values, while strengthening reinforces your current holdings. Players can maneuver their coins strategically and gain power by drawing from the coin display, ensuring they stay one step ahead of the competition.
