Each team sets up behind their own screen, tucking four cards labeled 1 to 4 into cozy pockets. This allows teammates to see the words, while keeping them hidden from the rival team. The excitement begins as players face off in rounds of clever clue-giving and guessing.

In the first round, a member of one team draws a code card that reveals a secret combination of numbers from 1 to 4, like 4-2-1. Armed with this vital information, they create a coded message using their team’s words. For instance, if the words are "pig," "candy," "tent," and "son," the clue might be “Sam-striped-pink.” The pressure is on as teammates race to decode the message and identify the matching numbers. Guess correctly, and it's high fives all around! Guess wrong, and the team earns a black mark, signaling a missed opportunity.

As the game progresses to the second round, the stakes get even higher. Each team member must once again provide hints that correspond to their hidden words. If the secret code is 2-4-3, they might choose to say “sucker-prince-stake.” Now it’s the other team’s turn to guess the code! A correct guess earns them a white mark of success, while a wrong guess could send the guessing team scrambling for answers, as the original team must then try to avoid the dreaded black mark.

The game intensifies through each round until one team gathers two white marks and claims victory, or the other team receives their second black mark and faces defeat. Typically, games last between 4 to 7 rounds. If neither team has clinched a win after eight rounds, the final showdown begins! Teams must attempt to guess the opposing team’s hidden words, with the team identifying more words correctly emerging as champions.
