Step into the world of Codenames Duet, where teamwork is essential and every clue counts! This captivating game retains the essence of the beloved original game, Codenames, with a twist that brings cooperation to the forefront. Instead of competing against each other, players join forces to uncover all of their agents before the clock runs out.

Set the stage for your undercover mission by laying out 25 word cards in a 5x5 grid. Next, position a key card in the holder so that each player views only one side. Each side of the key card reveals a unique 5x5 grid, with nine squares highlighted in green to represent your agents and three squares in black denoting the treacherous assassins. Intriguingly, three of the green squares on each side are identical, creating an exciting challenge. One assassin is black on both sides, while another alternates with a green square on the opposite side, and one more leads to an innocent bystander.

To achieve victory, you and your partner must reveal all fifteen agents while avoiding the assassins, all before time expires! The game kicks off with either player giving a one-word clue along with a number. The receiving player must then deftly place their finger on a word card to identify that agent. If they’re correct, they can continue guessing! Uncover a bystander, and their guessing spree comes to an end. But beware—identify an assassin, and it’s game over for both players!

What makes Codenames Duet truly exhilarating is the flexibility in guessing. Players can go back to previous clues, allowing for strategic reflections and additional guesses as they hone in on the elusive agents. After the initial clue, the baton is passed, with players alternating clues, enhancing the thrill of collaboration.
