Immerse yourself in the stunning ecosystems of the Pacific Northwest with Cascadia, an enchanting tile-laying and token-drafting game that invites you on a journey of nature and strategy. In Cascadia, you'll embark on a quest to expand your unique terrain and attract a variety of wildlife. Each player starts with three hexagonal habitat tiles, representing one of five distinct habitat types. On your turn, select a new habitat tile paired with a wildlife token. Strategically position your tile next to your existing terrain and assign the wildlife token to an appropriate habitat. Each habitat tile showcases 1-3 types of wildlife, but remember: you can only place one tile on each habitat! With four tiles available—each linked with wildlife tokens—your challenge lies in maximizing the potential of your options. Unless, of course, you possess a nature token, which gives you the power to choose your preferred items. Your main goal is to arrange the habitat tiles to create a harmonious landscape that minimizes fragmentation while nurturing wildlife corridors. As the game progresses, players score points based on the size of their habitats at the end, with bonuses for surpassing rivals in area size. But there's more to discover! You'll also be optimizing points earned from wildlife tokens. Scoring goals shift each round, drawn from one of four scoring cards, ensuring that the challenge remains fresh and dynamic. Animals have different preferences: some, like hawks, thrive in solitude, while others, like foxes, flourish in a diverse community. Meanwhile, bears prefer to team up.
