Welcome to the enchanting world of Bonfire, where light, energy, and warmth flow from majestic bonfires carefully tended by the valiant Guardians of Light. These stunning beacons pierce through the darkness, breathing life and vibrance into distant cities.

However, a twist of fate has led the people of these cities to grow complacent. Taking the bonfires for granted, they exploited their warmth for selfish desires. Disheartened by this betrayal, the Guardians retreated, allowing the bonfires to flicker out, which left the citizens in despair, forcing them to abandon their once-thriving homes.

Now, a group of determined gnomes living on the outskirts longs for the beauty and glow of the bonfires. With hearts overflowing with hope, they embark on a daring quest to restore the light. Your adventure takes you to the sacred islands of the Guardians, where you must complete special tasks to prove your good intentions. Each successful task will reignite a long-dormant bonfire, rekindling hope in your city.

Your mission is clear: earn the trust of the Guardians and illuminate your city brighter than anyone else to claim victory!

In Bonfire, strategically utilize unique three-colored tiles, fitting them onto your player board like pieces of a grand puzzle. By placing tiles of the same color adjacent to each other, you unlock additional action tiles, allowing for specialized actions and diverse strategies to achieve your goals. You can:

  • Navigate your ship to an island.
  • Receive tasks from an island by spending two resources.
  • Invite a Guardian of Light to join your city.
  • Trigger a procession of Guardians through your city for valuable resources.
  • Add a landscape tile to your city, where these processions will take place.
  • Recruit a gnome, gaining unique abilities or precious victory points.
  • Find support at the last glowing bonfire, obtaining portals, resources, or action tiles.

Gameplay unfolds in turn order until a fixed number of tasks have been completed. After that, every player enjoys five additional turns to maximize their potential and strategize for the endgame.

As the game draws to a close, you will earn points for each completed task (the rekindled bonfires) and any upgrades made to them (portals, landscapes, or Guardians). Are you ready to join the quest in Bonfire and reignite the light in your city? Dive into this captivating adventure today!
